For a beautiful day out by the harbour, bring the family to the annual
Fremantle Seafood Festival taking place this weekend, on
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February 2016. The two day festival takes place from
10am to 5pm each day at the
Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour on Mews Road in Fremantle and extends to the town's iconic Bathers Beach.
Proudly supported by IGA, this free unique festival celebrates the abundance of seafood, fresh local produce and the heritage and history of the industry that the Fremantle Port city is famous for. With the number of attendees close to 10,000 in 2015, 2016 expects a turn out of 20,000 people looking to enjoy food and wine over two huge days. In addition to premium wines and boutique beverages, visitors will be treated to a spectacular culinary experience with an array of organic local produce in the fun, vibrant ambiance of the historic fishing town.
To impart a better understanding of sustainable fishing and the environment, the festival will offer a variety of both free and ticketed events for all to discover and enjoy. A sample of events on the day are wine and seafood tastings, a fresh seafood market, kids activities such as face painting, balloon sculpting, fishing and magicians at the Kids Corner, live music, the Fisherman's Table seafood lunch, the Bather's Beach BBQ lunch, Cicerello's Stage with cooking demonstrations, a Festival village with food stalls and seafood masterclasses with celebrity chefs such as Anna Gare, Josh Catalano, Peter Manifis, Don Hancey and Bart Beek showcasing stunning signature dishes and sample tastings.
Festival highlights over the weekend will include fishing demonstrations in the 14,000 litre capacity Aquatank, live mermaids in the Aquatank swimming alongside the fish, a Seafood Trail to follow on the day and Flyboarding at Bathers Beach, guaranteed to pack a punch of adrenaline into your day.
