Bacon - a food that is not really healthy but is enjoyed by so many people worldwide, including myself. Even after turning "vegetarian" at one stage, I could not give up this one meat item from my menu - which, of course, means I was not really a vegetarian!

Bacon is one of my favourite foods and as such this is an event that I am very interested in! It is such a versatile food, and can be enjoyed with savoury and is also delicious with sweet foods including maple syrup. But the purpose of this article is not to extol the virtues of the humble bacon, but to familiarise you with The Fremantle Bacon Festival.

This is back again for 2018 – because [i]"everything's better with bacon"[/i] - see, I am not the only one who thinks this way!

On Saturday 14th from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm and Sunday 15th April from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm, you, and I can attend a celebration of everything bacon at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges.

There will be a busy market hall to get your fill of local food stalls with special "baconated" dishes, pop up bars, live music and children's activities.

The Fremantle Bacon Festival will welcome back Cocktail Gastronomy, 3 Little Pigs, Greenhorns, Carlton & United Breweries, Coca Cola and SouthTrade International, MOP Donuts, Piadina Bar - Italian Street Kitchen, FUNK Cider and Mondo Doro.

As well as these, there will be new vendors including Scone Crazy, and more still to be announced.

Cost of tickets is:

$10 per person (includes 1 drink token)

Under 18's free (no drink token)

Buy online for priority entry

There are some Terms and Conditions, and these are as follows:

Drink tokens valid at the CUB bar for one drink to the value of $12 only

An online booking fee of $0.99 per ticket and merchant fees of 2.5% apply

Bookings can also be made via the phone or email to avoid booking and merchant fees (credit card fees still apply).
