Freeling is a small town about 60 kilometres north of Adelaide. The township was named after Major-General Sir Arthur Henry Freeling, Baronet, who was the Surveyor General of South Australia from 1849 to 1861.

In the heart of the town is a very picturesque ANZAC Park. An arch leads to many panels telling about the history from World War Two to the Iraq war. There are also prints of all the various medals which is really interesting.

The park has beautiful gardens, big grass areas and large shady trees. There are also covered picnic chairs and tables. At the backdrop of the park is a restored Railway Goods Shed to acknowledge the significant railway and agricultural heritage of the town. Also on display in the park are original old land management implements used in the agricultural sector. In the early 1900s the region was the largest hay-producing centre in South Australia,

Freeling was a major set for the popular Australian TV series McLeod's Daughters and in the park is a display of the iconic bath and windmill used in the series. Visitors are allowed to sit in the bath and take a selfie.

In the middle of the road across the park is the World War One Memorial with the words "Our Glorious Dead". Their names were also engraved on the Memorial.

Surrounding the park are the Freeling Hotel, the Town Hall, and the Gungellan Hotel. The park also has public toilets with disabled access and car and bus parking.

The ANZAC spirit is truly honoured in this small town by its community.
