More than just a memorial, the Shrine of Remembrance serves as a museum that pays tribute to veterans and the history of Australia and Australians in two world wars. It is home to a temporary exhibition entitled 'The War on our Doorstep, Australians in New Guinea 1943-45'. The exhibition showcases the campaigns undertaken by the Australian military in New Guinea against the Japanese during WWII including Kokoda, Milne Bay, Beachheads, Mandate-at Wau, Salamaua-Lae, Finisterre Range and Huon Peninsula. You can enjoy free entry to this exhibition located in the Galleries of Remembrance.
