10. Brisbane boasts two different botanical gardens , both worth a wander.
11. Our lovely green city has plenty parks for a picnic with a friend.
12. Many of our parks also have exercise equipment that you are more than able to use to get those abs you are after.
13. The Brisbane Powerhouse and the Sit Down Comedy Club have free events that will have you giggling away.
14. Visit Currimudi Lake on the Sunshine Coast. It's right near the beach but there are no waves and the wind is blocked by a small sand dune for mini-tobogganers.

15. Wait until the Kerbside Collection hits our higher socio-economic suburbs and go through what has been discarded. I've heard about people walking away with brand new television sets.
16. Play a game with a friend. Why not set up a massive citywide scavenger hunt?
17. Play hide-and-seek at IKEA .
18. Find a place by the river and give sketching or painting a go.
19. Multiple times a year our city displays some spectacular fireworks. Head down to the river and watch the show. Riverfire is my favorite!
20. Speaking of Riverfire, it coincides with Brisbane Festival which has multiple free and low cost events scattered around the city.

21. Have a dance in a valley nightclub. Not all clubs have a cover charge and they are required to give you free water if you are being designated driver for your mates.
22. Head into the CBD or another highly populated area and people watch.
23. QPAC often displays costumes and information regarding their most impressive shows. If you are into design, fashion or the theatre this is a free trip you might enjoy.
24. Head to the beach for more than just a swim. There are often markets or festivals beachside. I believe Noosa even has a sand sculptures festival on occasion.
25. Climb a mountain. I would recommend a hike up Mt Coolum ; it might be a challenge but the view makes it worth it.

26. People travel from all over the world to swim in our beaches, so make sure you check them out too.
27. Outside QPAC free live music is performed every week as part of The Seed Project.
28. Find a class. There are heaps out there, and a quick Google search will guide you in the right direction.
29. Take a scenic drive and stop at all the lookouts we usually drive passed because we are too interested in our destinations to enjoy the journey.
30. Grab a skateboard, scooter or skates and hit the many skate parks around the place.
31. Take a skinny dip. Liberate yourself; go jump in a pool, lake, creek or beach naked.
32. Check your old rollerblades for spiders, dust 'em off and glide up and down Kangaroo Point walkway.

33. Borrow, beg (but don't steal) a kayak and hit our lovely waterways for a paddle.
34. Window shop in the air-con at many of Brisbane's Shopping Centres. Now that Indooroopilly has opened the new section I've fallen in love with shopping all over again.
35. In the lead up to Christmas jump in the car and go check out the stunning lighting displays scattered around our great city.
36. Enjoy suburban celebrations with the various festivals that occur during the year. I thoroughly enjoy Teneriffe Festival when it comes around.
37. Swim below a waterfall. My favourite is at Cedar Creek. It is an amazing spot for a dip.

38. Fly a kite. If you don't already have one, make one with scraps around the house.
39. Clean out the freezer and have a BBQ with mates at any of the push-start BBQ's in our lovely parklands.
40. Check out the many weekend markets spread out all over the city. Most are free entry and for only a couple bucks (not free, I know) you might pick up a bargain.
41. Enjoy the music and performances which are a part of the Anywhere Festival in May, where artists hit the streets and perform literally anywhere.
42. Grab your bike and hit the tracks. My favorites are around Redland Bay and along the Brisbane River.

43. Before the season begins you can often catch your sporting heroes competing in matches against local clubs for free. Or perhaps just head to the stadium for a meet and great.
44. Join in the Southbank parkrun , a weekly 5km run that will help you get fit.
45. Grab some binoculars and try your hand at bird watching. People flock to this activity.
46. Enjoy a stroll in Roma Street Parklands . Check out the stunning botanical displays and gorgeous sculptures.
47. Wander Paddington shops and head back in time in the Paddington Antique Centre housed in the historic Plaza Theatre.
48. Pack a boogie-board or simply some cardboard, drive up to Rainbow Beach and then slide down those magnificent sand dunes.

49. Jump aboard the Cityhopper and feel the wind in your hair as you sail down the river.
50. Once a month you can enjoy large-scale board games in King George Square.
51. Take a free Brisbane Greeters Tour. These friendly Brisbaneites will take you around the city and fill you in with some of our town's best stories.
