Again in 2016 the Inner West Councils of Strathfield, Leichhardt, City of Canada Bay, Burwood and Ashfield are collaborating to bring some genuinely valuable sustainability workshops and events to the residents of their municipalities.

The events are free, however they are prioritized for residents of these areas, so locals will get first opportunity to attend. Non-residents are very welcome to register, however you will be put on a waiting list and notified if there is an available place.

As usual the range of workshops are really practical and cover many different aspects of living sustainably. Some of the courses are Treading Lightly Workshop-old-favourites like the Composting and Worm Farming and Gardening in Small Spaces, so if you didn't catch them last time, this is an opportunity to get involved this time around.

One of the most notable workshops is the Tomato Evening being taught by the well-lauded Cornersmith Cafe in Marrickville. Cornersmith Cafe is known around Sydney, in particular for their excellent pickles and the cooking and preserving workshops Cornersmith offers.

In the Tomato Evening you will get some free insight into their methods with training on making canned tomatoes and passata and proper preserving and sterilization techniques.

Another Treading Lightly Workshop of note is the Nature Photography Workshop. Photography classes can be expensive, but this is a free way to learn some tips and tricks while being able to put your new skills to the test immediately photographing the local Concord mangroves.

These are just a few of the Workshops on offer, so just peruse the list below and see what resonates with you.
