2. Walkabout Creek Discovery CentreWhere: 60 Mount Nebo Rd, The Gap

Details: Located just 12kms from Brisbane's CBD this nature attraction features up-close animal experiences. At the wildlife centre the little ones can meet a platypus, quoll and wombat, or even pet a reptile during the ranger guided talks and tours held every weekend. To complete the day, go for a bushwalk and cool off with a dip in the Enoggera Reservoir.

3. Brisbane Botanic GardensWhere: Mount-Coot-tha Rd, Toowong

Details: Situated on 56-hectares, there is certainly no shortage of flora and fauna at this botanic garden! The kids will love the walk along the Hide 'n' Seek Children's Trail. The trail is suited for the whole family and features plenty of surprises on the way as well as plant facts.
Tip: After the walk head to the Botanical Café for a bite to eat and sit by the large pond to spot turtles, frogs and ducks.

6. The Cube, QUT Gardens Point

Details: With free admission and an array of activities, this Science and Engineering Centre at the Gardens Point Campus is loaded with plenty of fun. The Cube boasts 48 multi-touch screens over two-storeys, hands-on exhibits including the popular Dino Zoo featuring life-size dinosaurs and interactive dinosaur fossil digs.
