Relive your childhood at this art exhibit
James Parkinson's Free Time is one of the latest exhibitions at Seventh Gallery. Consisting of a room full of multi-coloured balls, the exhibition mimics a child's ball pit and visitors are encouraged to interact with the art and play in this adult's ball pit.
Running from 23 July till 7 August, Free Time is "an evaluation of how art exists between a site of critical thought and authenticity and the functional space external to it", according to Seventh Gallery, which promotes up-and-coming artists. It reflects on and asks us to reflect on how we use space and how we spend time.
The artist, James Parkinson, is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Expanded Studio Practice) at RMIT University.
Free Time is worth spending your free time on, even if only to jump at the opportunity to jump around a room full of colourful plastic balls. How often does that opportunity come along?
