Scorching beach days & long, warm nights
I say it every December, and I'll say it again - the year went far too fast. It's Summer again, and we've hit the holiday season.

Hallelujah.

But don't get to the end of the break and wonder where all your time went. Make sure you get out of the house and spend some quality time exploring and relaxing.

Whether you're spending the Summer as a couple, a family, or an individual, these are five activities that you must get amongst to appreciate the greatest season of all.

1) Camp out under the stars

Don't like camping? Suck it up. Pitching a tent in a rural location is the best way to truly relieve your soul of the year's stresses. Get away from the crazy city and appreciate some time alone, or time to really bond with your family/ friends.

Check out this list of free camping sites in South Australia. Or, this page that details every single park in the state that has a camping ground in it.

2) Picnic somewhere secluded

Here's a question for you - when was the last time you had a picnic? If your eyebrows have creased in thought then it's been far too long. Stop the picnic drought this Summer.

How about venturing to the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, somewhere in the Barossa, or a beach along the Yorke Peninsula for your picnic adventure?

3) Surf like a pro

You haven't tried surfing? Well, what's wrong with you? South Australia has some of the most incredible surfing beaches in the country.

If you're a beginner, I suggest heading down to Goolwa and joining one of Kingo Surfing's classes. He's a professional and knows all the tricks of the trade. Or, if you want to work it our for yourself, you can just hire a board from him.

4) Party by the beach

Just about everybody associates the word Summer with the word beach. It's a lot easier to keep cool on hot days when you're near the ocean water and experiencing the coastal breeze.

So how about occupying one of the public verandahs and shades near your local beach? Many metro beaches have BBQ and playground areas.

If you're feeling daring, you can head down to Aldinga Beach and actually park your car on the sand. Then it's simple to set up for the day right out of your car.
