June and July are Melbourne's coldest months. But you won't be left out in the cold when it comes to getting out and about with these great freebies. Here's a list of June's FREE events to keep you warmly entertained.

LUXURY ESCAPES CHADSTONE: NORTHERN TERRITORY WEEK & VIP Event!


Luxury Escapes
There is nothing like a Melbourne winter to get you thinking about visiting the warm Northern Territory with its deserts, gorges, and national parks. Visit Luxury Escapes Chadstone (yes, they have a shopfront) on Thursday, June 6, between 6 pm and 8 pm for a VIP event featuring drinks, Indigenous canapes, an expert panel featuring Georgia Love, and an exclusive chance to win a great prize. This famous tour company might have a deal worth hearing about. If not, you can enjoy soaking in the warmth, drinks and canapes of the NT.

FREE TAI CHAI CLASSES AT PRAHRAN SQUARE

Tuesdays 9am to 10am

Tai Chi is a gentle exercise that increases mobility, suppleness, and mental alertness. Whether you’re experienced or new, these free classes are suitable for people of all levels and are led by an instructor from Tai Chi Australia. BYO bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Classes will be cancelled in the event of bad weather.

FREE COMMUNITY YOGA CLASSES


Australia Yoga Academy

Community Yoga Classes are held every Tuesday at noon. These gentle flow classes are led by a current yoga teacher trainee under the supervision of an experienced teacher. They are open to all levels of yogis. All equipment is supplied. Come dressed comfortably, ready for movement.

Held biannually, the MindBodySpirit Festival brings together more than 200 health and wellbeing exhibitors and over 60 guest speakers, attracting more than 17,000 visitors seeking a healthy and happier lifestyle.

Mornington Winter Music Festival

The Mornington Winter Music Festival will be held over the King's Birthday weekend in June and will bring Mornington to life with a celebration of music, arts, and heritage.

There will be no shortage of entertainment at the 2024 Mornington Winter Music Festival. For four days, the streets, restaurants, cafes, hotels, galleries, and parks will come alive with a diverse mix of jazz, blues, swing, traditional, progressive, and classic music, offering something for everyone.

There are ticketed gigs, but there are also lots of FREE performances happening over the weekend. Many local artists perform over the weekend. Support them by attending the free performances and stopping to listen to the buskers and roving performers along Main Street.

Come and soak up the atmosphere from every street corner in Mornington's restaurants, cafes and bars.

THE AUSTRALIAN KELPIE MUSTER

The Australian Kelpie Muster

The Australian Kelpie Muster headlines June long weekend activities in the Glenelg Shire, boasting various free activities and entertainment for all ages.

The Casterton Kelpie Association runs the Kelpie Mustern, includes the family-friendly Kelpie Festival on Saturday, and showcases the Australian Premier Working Dog Auction on Sunday.

Saturday-Casterton’s main street comes alive with the Kelpie High Jump, Kelpie Hill Climb, Kelpie Dash, Stockman’s Challenge, Street Parade, Kelpie Kids, Poets Breakfast and much more.

Sunday-Sunday kicks off with working dog demonstrations from 9:30 am inaugural Working Dog Auction is set to commence at 3 pm as some of Australia’s finest kelpies demonstrate their skill.

FREE HOBSONS BAY ART SOCIETY WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

Hobsons Bay City Council


Join a series of three-day-long workshops led by award-winning artists. Workshops will focus on granulated watercolour, acrylic painting as well as charcoal and pencil. Participants of all ability levels are welcome. Made possible through Hobsons Bay City Council’s Make It Happen grants.

The exhibition features significant still-life works from the Nillumbik Art Collection alongside newly commissioned installations by Kenny Pittock, First Nations artist Tricia ‘Vandal’ Van Der-Kuyp, and Nillumbik artist Nusra Latif Qureshi. These artists will also present free workshops in the gallery space where children and adults can create their own still-life works.

Open Cellars of Nillumbik

This region is full of charm and history while producing superb wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Visit family-owned wineries in Nillumbik, each with an individual style. The grapes are hand-picked and hand-crushed by family and friends in the traditional style, and wines are developed on-site. This is a unique opportunity to sample their current releases and savour a selection of special vintage wines.

Take a stroll through the vineyards, learn about the winemaking process from the experts, and taste some of the region's best wines.
Each winery will present a unique program of events and activities, including live music, delectable lunches, and art exhibitions.

MELBOURNE. HORROR FILM SOCIETY MONTHLY FREE FILM

June 29 but occurs on the last Saturday of every month




Suppose you're into B-grade, gory, splatter-filled side of horror. In that case, the Melbourne Horror Film Society holds its traditional screenings called BLOOD RITUAL on the last Saturday of the month in conjunction with True North in Cobur, with free entry and cheap beer. FREE MONTHLY WALK IN PORT MELBOURNE

Different walks are held every month. See program. The June walk is called Corner Stories in Port. The story goes that a pub was on every corner in Port Melbourne. Not quite. Wander through Port Melbourne's backstreets to find stories about corner pubs, corner shops, and the corners where people liked to hang out.
