Located at 29 km south-east of Cairns Queensland, Fitzroy Island can be reached by ferry from Cairns. This 339-hectare island has its own fringe coral reef system and rainforest and is a paradise for holidaymakers.

There are many free things you can enjoy at Fitzroy Island. You can choose one of their walking tracks and collect flora and fauna. Walk to the Lighthouse Track. It is a very steep path which requires a degree of fitness, some sturdy shoes and plenty of water, but it is worth doing as the reward is breathtaking views of the ocean. The lighthouse is no longer active, however, you can have a look inside as the ground floor is open to the public.
One of the walking track. Very green
There is another track, Summit Track, which leads further on from the lighthouse and is yet another winding track that takes you to the summit of the island. The views are spectacular but this walk is only advised for fit walkers. You can also enjoy the beach area around the welcome bay.
Water inflatable for anyone who dare
Nudey Beach is about a 15-minute walk from the resort and it involves a bit of rock hopping, so don't attempt it with a pram or wheelchair. Nudey Beach offers pure white sand and crystal clear water. While you're making friends with native wildlife, such as goannas or White Bellied Sea Eagles, or swimming and snorkelling amongst the colourful marine life, please remember to put your swimsuit on! Don't let the name Nudey Beach fool you!
You can also take part in fish feeding with free fish food handed out by one of the resort's staff. Every day at 11.30am and 4.00pm down at the jetty (pier), you can watch the fish swim to the surface as fish food thrown into the water. If you have young kids, this is always a fun activity for families.
