Over the next three weekends, there's no better excuse to get off the mainland and take a short ferry trip over to Cockatoo Island for its free sunset jazz concerts.
On Saturday 27 November, 20 November and 4 December, Cockatoo Island will be the host of three jazz concerts from 5pm to 7pm.
So pack yourself a picnic hamper or pick up some food and wine available for purchase from the Cockatoo Island café and set yourself up for a relaxing afternoon on the Island's lawn.
For the first week, singer and composer Kristin Berardi, accompanied by award winning guitarist James Sherlock will perform a smooth blend of jazz and pop music. Also taking the stage, will be Queensland-based duo The Scrapes who will play original folk songs with Adam Cadell on the fiddle and Ryan Potter on guitar.
On the second Saturday, The Vampires will show-off their blend of jazz, old-school reggae and South American music, featuring compositions by saxophonist Jeremy Rose and guest artist Shannon Barnet on trombone.
And closing the event will be experimental three piece Hinterlandt and five piece My Goodness McGuiness that will each perform their eclectic mix of beats.
Not only will it be a chance to enjoy the company of good friends, but also be able to watch the sunset over Sydney harbour.
Also, you can choose to make the most out of the event by staying overnight at
Cockatoo Island's campground.
