"I'm bored Mum." Sound familiar? Finding school holiday events that will keep your children entertained without breaking the family budget can be tricky. Take heart! Help is at hand. The Frankston Library group is coming to the rescue with a host of free events in Frankston, Seaford and Carrum Downs.

1. Making Paper Flowers
Spring has sprung and what better way to celebrate it than with flowers. Your children can explore their creativity with this easy, age-specific workshop. Children will make paper flowers to take home and proudly display to the rest of the family.

2. Where's Wally in the Library Scavenger Hunt
Call into your branch of the library and pick up your Library Scavenger Hunt checklist from the friendly folk at the front desk. Hidden around the library are five intrepid travellers and their precious items. When you find them fill out your checklist. Don't forget to give your completed checklist to the staff before you leave so it can be entered into the prize draw.

3. Grand Final Story Time and Craft Session
If your children are footy fans this is for them. AFL's biggest event is nearly here. Children are encouraged to pull on their team colours and celebrate the Grand Final at this storytime and craft session.

4. Mapping Australia in Mosaics
This is an opportunity for children to work together and collaborate by contributing their ideas to this challenging project. Children will be involved in making a mosaic map of Australia. Art and craft materials are supplied by the library.

5. Rock Paper Scissors Tournament
What child needs to be prompted to play rock, paper scissors? Foster your child's competitive spirit in this rapid-fire tournament. The winner will be crowned Champion of Rock Paper Scissors 2019.

6. Free Movie
There's no need to pay for expensive movie tickets or to run the gauntlet at the candy bar. Your children can watch this PG-rated movie for free. Children are encouraged to bring their own drink. The title is yet to be announced; please ring 9784 1020 to find out what the movie is before booking.

7. Fun with Tangrams
Maths during the school holidays! That's a bit different. Don't worry getting the children interested in this won't be a challenge. A tangram is a puzzle of seven geometric shapes which are arranged together to make a specific shape. Children will have fun arranging the shapes to create different objects.
Recommended age group: 5 to 8 years

8. Junkcraft
Who wants to play with junk? Introduce your children to the creativity of designing and making something from junk. The junk materials will be provided by the library. All your children need to bring is their imagination.
Recommended age group: 3 to 12 years
When: 4th October 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Bookings for those events which require them open on 6th September and can be done on the website. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Should you have any enquiries you can contact the library on 9784 1020 or by email at libraryenquiries@frankston.vic.gov.au. The full school holiday program and other events run by the library can be viewed on their website.

In addition to the free events, the library is also running Magnetic Fishing Game at Carrum Downs for $3 and Master Magician Duck Cameron at Frankston for $5.

After these events have put your children in a happy mood, why not show them the wonderful books they can enjoy at the library. Perhaps even join them up; it could be the beginning of a life of the joy of reading.
