I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.

The school holidays are almost upon as and that means two weeks spent trying to keep your kids occupied. If you're looking for a new way to entertain them, the school holiday program at your local Westfield Shopping Centre may offer some help. There are a range of activities planned for centres throughout Queensland, including entertainment inspired by The Croods and Peter Pan.

Westfield Chermside
In the first week of the holidays, from Monday April 1 to Friday April 5, there will be a 'The Croods' Interactive Zone at Westfield Chermside, running from 10.00am to 1.00pm daily, near the cinemas. Here, families can decorate a birdhouse to take home, or play rock pots and coil throwing games with each other. There will also be a meet and greet with a special character from the film at 12.00pm, which will last for 20 minutes.

It the second week, the focus will shift to Peter Pan, with Live Shows set to take place at 11.00am and 1.00pm every day between Monday April 8 and Friday April 12 at the Centre Court. They will follow Peter Pan and Tinkerbell's new adventure as they save Neverland from Captain Hook and his pirates. There will also be a 20 minute meet and greet with one of the characters at 12.00pm.

Westfield Helensvale
Kids who visit Westfield Helensvale between Tuesday April 2 and Friday April 5 will be able to cuddle and feed some cute farm animals at the Baby Animal Farm to be set up outside Kmart. It will be open from 10.00am and 3.00pm each day.

Like at Westfield Chermside, an Interactive Zone based on The Croods will also be open, with bird-house decorating, rock pots and coil throwing games. It will be run between 11.00am to 2.00pm, from Monday April 8 to Friday April 12, outside Kmart.

There will also be opportunities to meet Belt, the sloth from The Croods. He will be appearing at the Zone in 20 minute on/off intervals throughout the day (due to health and safety issues). Kids can also collect a Colouring In Competition here for a chance to win a prize pack (details on what each contains can be viewed here). Entry closes at 2.00pm on Friday April 5.

At the Little Green Thumbs portable garden, kids can learn about gardening and create their own vegetable patch to take home, with a different vegetable to be planted each day. The garden will be open between 10.00am and 2.00pm from Monday April 8 to Saturday April 13, near Wendys.

Over both weeks, kids can also get creative and make some artwork with sand at the Sandwizard Activity Centre, open from Monday April 1 to Friday April to, between 10.00am and 4.00pm, in the Fresh Food Mall outside Coles.

What about the other Westfields? Ie Carindale and Garden City? Just a mention (even if its to say nothing is on would be helpful.)

Most of the bigger shopping centres run free school holiday activities. They usually have signs up or simply ask at the customer service desk. Just check out your local centre next time you are there and see what's on offer.
