Brisbane City Council libraries are recognised as a central resource and information hub for people of all ages. Along with the mass of books, magazines, DVD's and CD's available, there are a host of classes, workshops, writer groups, book clubs and special events scheduled throughout the year including a multitude of school holiday activities.
Dates for the upcoming school holidays for Queensland students are Saturday, 17 September to Sunday, 2 October 2011. With over 30 libraries located throughout the district of Brisbane, there are plenty of free school holiday activities to choose from like storytime readings, workshops, games and craft activities, puppet shows, animal shows and more.

Kitchen Gardening with Children
In this unique and informative workshop, children will learn how to help mum grow tasty and healthy food at home. Gain valuable information about gardening, the different types of edible plants and soil information.
Morag Gamble is the director of SEED International and is presenting this fun event. Morag's expertise is extensive having completed a Masters Degree in Environmental Education.

Balloon Modelling Workshop Come along to this fun and interactive workshop for children aged 8 years and upwards. Kids will learn all the basics of balloon modelling and participate in creating various balloon shapes. Two sessions are being held at the Chermside Library on Thursday, 22 September from 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm. Bookings are required. Phone Council on (07) 3403 8888.
Freda Frog's Pond storytime
Freda Frog's Pond by Judith Carter Reserve your seat with the Garden City Library on Sunday, 18 September from 2pm to 3.30pm to meet author and illustrator Judith Carter. Children will enjoy a live reading from Judith's popular children's book 'Freda Frog's Pond' and participate by making their own Freda Frog. This event is ideal for children 5 years and under. Judith is more than happy to speak with parents about her book after the session. Bookings can be made by phoning (07) 3403 8888.
