Lots of photographers find night photography a challenge. Although the results can be truly awe-inspiring as in the photograph below.
So it is worth giving it a shot.
Melbourne Polytechnic in Prahran is presenting a free workshop that offers advice and practical skills in night photography.
It is all a bit of background so that you can confidently enter the forthcoming
Shot in the Dark photographic competition that is being held in the City of Stonnington.
The free workshop will be help on Saturday 5 July, 4.30pm – 7.30pm.

Stonnington Council's night photography competiiton has several prizes of $500 each so it might be worth learning some of these photographic skills so you can enter.
The competition requires photographs from cameras or smart phone that are taken at night using either available light or flash.
Categories include Faces of Stonnington (people living and working in Stonnington) Places of Stonnington and the Lights of Stonnington (using creative photographic techniques). These are the
Stonnington boundaries.
As well as considerable prizes forty images will be used in the resulting exhibition.

The prizes are $500 1st prize in each category and a $150 runner-up each category.Entries close Thursday 10 July at 5.00pm.
