Last year, you may remember, I presented you with Six Free New Year's Eve Events in South Australia , as well as my own sad story about spending the previous NYE watching The Smurfs movie on the couch.

It's been a long wait and unfortunately The Smurfs 2 isn't due to be released until January 9, 2014. So it's time to get off the couch and gather your family and friends because this year I give you EIGHT free and fabulous New Year's Eve festivities for wherever you may find yourself in this fine state of ours on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve at the Bay
There are many ways to ring in the New Year in South Australia, but by far one of the most popular is to celebrate at the Bay. This year will be no different with an exciting line up of entertainment that begins at 6.30 pm with a concert featuring Boomstars, Gemini Downs, Caterina Torres (from The Voice), DJ/MC Jaki J, and Acoustic Juice. Once the sun has set on 2013, the foreshore will be lit with a UV lighting system as part of the Glo Glenelg theme, so wear your best and brightest fluoro clothes to "get your glo on" and be part of the action. Then there's a fireworks display at 9.30 pm and midnight to light up the night sky.

If you wanted to, you could fork out for the picnic hamper package for which you'll receive access to a reserved picnic area with a great view of the stage plus a picnic basket packed with food, drinks, and other goodies. Find more information about New Year's at the Bay on the City of Holdfast Bay website .

Adelaide's New Year's Eve Celebrations
The Adelaide City Council puts on a fantastic New Year's Eve party in Elder Park with all the ingredients for a great night. There's live music, food stalls, a licensed bar, and two dazzling rounds of fireworks. Dance the night away to the sounds of Atlantic Street Band, The Wholias, All Year Round, Climbs, Germein Sisters, Jimmy & The Mirrors, Lucky Seven with The Swing Sesh Dancers, and DJ Tr!P. Gates open at 6 pm, the concert starts at 7 pm, and the fireworks go off at 9 pm and midnight. Check out the City of Adelaide website for all the details.

Semaphore Summer Carnival New Year's Eve Fireworks
Many people prefer the more relaxed, yet still festive, atmosphere of New Year's Eve at Semaphore. It's a great choice for families as the Semaphore Summer Carnival is in full swing with plenty of rides, games, and activities along the foreshore from 11 am onward and a free midnight fireworks display to begin the New Year with a bang. The Show Amusements website is the place to go for more information.

People's Choice Credit Union New Year's Eve Celebrations
Further south, there is a New Year's Eve event at Victor Harbor sponsored by People's Choice Credit Union. The free, family-friendly festivities start at 7 pm in Warland Reserve and attract visitors and locals alike. There's live music from local bands, entertainment for the kids, and a giant fireworks spectacular. Make the most of the trip to Victor and spend the day exploring the town and its many attractions. Visit the City of Victor Harbor website for some more details about the event.

Normanville New Year's Eve Pageant
Not far from Victor Harbor is Normanville, which is mostly known for its bi-annual Leafy Sea Dragon Festival . It celebrates the end of one year and beginning of another with the Normanville New Year's Eve Pageant. Now in its 16th year, the event features a parade of colourful floats, a fireworks display, and food provided by local community groups. The parade kicks off at 7.30 pm and makes its way through the town before finishing up at the Normanville Foreshore with activities and entertainment for the whole family.
