Free Motorcycle and Scooter Parking in Adelaide CBD

Scooter riders and motorcyclists will be allowed to park their bikes on selected city footpaths for free until November 2016.

Free, time-unlimited parking spaces have been made available on specific footpath spaces in Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga and Light Square / Wauwi.

The Adelaide CBD already has more than 1,000 free on-street parking spaces for motorcycles - all but 36 of those spaces are free for all day parking.

This trial will be a test for possible further footpath parking in the CBD for motorbikes and scooters. It's hoped that the trial will help to reduce traffic congestion, as well as being a major cost saver for the ratepayers. If successful, the trial will eliminate the need for several future car parks to be built; saving an estimated $100 million.

The designated free parks are in the north-west corner of Victoria Square and on the western side of Light Square. Just look for the signs and be aware that parking fines will be issued for motor bikes and scooters parked outside of the trial sites.

Each location is able to accommodate at least 10 motorcycles or scooters.
