Now there are two events being held in Melbourne for the September full moon, and if nothing else, they will be FUN!

MELBOURNE MOON FESTIVAL
The 2018 Melbourne Moon Festival will be held on Saturday, 22nd September 2018. It will be held from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm at The Box Hill Mall, Market and Main Streets, Box Hill.

This one is organised by the Melbourne Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce and is the 28th Melbourne Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. It is an annual multicultural celebration for all ages and is one of the most highly anticipated events in Melbourne. This year, it falls just a day after a full moon.

The festival is all about Asian culture, traditions and foods, as well as encouraging communities from all across Melbourne to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. This is generally a time for family and friends to gather and admire the mid-autumn moon.

The festival will also promote "community harmony, strengthening the understanding of Asian - Australian culture".

There will be 60 marquees, as well as:
  • various international cuisines
  • arts and crafts
  • lantern decorating
  • a full entertainment programme, including the Opening Ceremony
  • lion dancing
  • live performances
  • games
  • competitions
  • an SBS broadcasting van

  • Getting There
You are encouraged to use public transport on the day as trains, buses and trams are available near the event.

    Parking
If however, you decide to drive, there is off-street parking and car parks are also readily available at the event site. These possibly have fees/metres.

Entry to this festival is free and you can read more at their Facebook page.

    FULL MOON FESTIVAL
Over many years, there have been a lot of scientific reports regarding the effects of a full moon on our human behaviour.

These reports claim that this event heightens mind activity. It also increases visits to general and/or psychiatric emergency departments and causes people to complain about higher levels of distress, both physical and mental.

Regardless of these facts, this promises to be a fun event and will be held on Saturday 23rd September 2018. It will be held from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm at the Dandenong Market, Corner Clow and Cleeland Streets.

There will be food and flavours, aromas and sounds at Dandenong Market's Full Moon Festival!

This is now in its fifth year and is a celebration where there will be stunning performances as well as the best street food from South East Asia.

At the Full Moon Festival, you will be able to join in a fabulous full schedule of entertainment. There will be the awe-inspiring lion dance, as well as Melbourne's largest and longest Hong Kong style performing dragon!

The Full Moon Festival celebrates the brightest and fullest moon. This is a traditional Chinese custom that stands for "peace, prosperity and family reunion".

Dandenong Market is generally a place for fresh produce and even ingredients that are otherwise hard to find. This market always attracts good crowds and is a great place to hold the Full Moon Festival 2018.
