YES, you read it right! Merlo Mocha, Cappuccino, Double Shot Espresso, Skinny Flat White, Soy Latte, however you choose to partake this precious commodity, which in todays economy parallels with the worlds demand in oil.
Cafe Bar Merlo situated just across the road and up from the Southbank Cinema, offers each coffee seeker the opportunity each day Monday to Friday, between 2-3 pm, the Barista, flips a coin you say whether the coin will land heads or tails and if it lands on what you nominated, your large or small coffee is completely FREE. I had been attending Southbank Tafe and came across this great coffee spot and was delighted when the Barista announced l had won my coffee, no charge.
Apart from this novel approach to marketing good coffee, the food, cafe location and set up of this cafe bar is spot on. Healthy, delicious and affordable lunch, breakfast and afternoon food options, yum selections of cakes and treats, served with a smile. Yes, they do primarily cater to the Southbank Institute's Students but the high architectural spatial feel of the cafe, with fresh flowers, magazines and daily papers, make it a great choice also for the city commuters and Southbank precinct workers.
If you want quick, fresh and barista smooth, this is where its at.
Maybe your opening log should read ...Possibly free as there is a catch to getting a free coffee. If one didn't continue to read on and you are aware of Merlo and location etc already and went straight in, well I would think there is a greater chance of ''Free egg on face'' than free coffee. How embarrassing would that be. Just saying!
Most people don't know about this novel idea of flipping a coin for your coffee and it is free if you win it.
Better to know about it than not. It has saved me heaps and l get a great coffee.
