This May, Brisbane and surrounding areas are going all Free with many events that will suit everyone's tastes from festivals, markets to workshops and everything else in between!

Check out the list below for a 'fun free' list of things to do:

1. Bike Week Film Night
When: 1 May 2015: 7:30pm-9pm
Where: University of Queensland, Schonell Theatre, Union Rd, Brisbane
Details: This is definitely for all you cycle-fanatics! The event will be filled with a range of rides and mostly free activities. The film is 'The Finishers' and is based on a 17 year old with a great sense of humour who is wheelchair-bound due to cerebral palsy. The family is falling apart under the strain of dealing with the 17 year old's disability. The movie is in French with English subtitles. Click here for website .



2. Buddha Birthday Festival
When: 1-3 May 2015: 9am-9pm
Where: Cultural Forecourt, South Bank Parklands, Brisbane
Details: This will be the 19th annual celebration of the Buddha Birth Day Festival. Being the Year of the Goat/ Sheep, this 3 day event will be filled with 250 performers, 180 events including cultural dances, music, activities, Vegetarian Food Fair, Nightly Noodle Markets, Celebrity Cooking Displays, Dragon Boat Regatta, fireworks display, Chinese Tea Ceremony, Origami, classes, workshops and more at night hundreds of candles will light up the Parklands and red lanterns will be shining brightly. 3. The Newmarket Creative Markets
When: 3 May 2015: 8am-12pm
Where: Newmarket Bowls Club, 212 Ashgrove Ave, Brisbane
Details: This latest edition to the market scene is boasting with unique stalls with a fresh and funky vibe that includes live music, kids play area and of course foodies' haven! You will find fresh flowers, women's fashion, jewellery, handmade items, kid's toys, mum & baby products, dog treats, family photography, lifestyle products and more...

4. Koala Community Planting
When: 3 May 2015: 9am-11am
Where: Three Paddocks Park, Allan Day Drive, Birkdale
Details: This is perfect for the kids and whole family, join in on the fun and help plant 1500 plants to expand a creek corridor for the furry community around Birkdale. Be sure to stay after planting for a sausage sizzle and also take home a free native plant.



5. The Handmade Expo Market
When: 3 May 2015: 9am-2pm
Where: Morayfield Sports & Events Centre, 298 Morayfield Rd, Brisbane
Details: This indoor market consists of around 130 stalls selling everything handmade and home grown. Items include children's wear, paper-craft, home decor, one of a kind jewellery, wood work, leather work, natural soaps & lotions, candles, artworks, cupcakes, fudge, mosaic and more.. 6. South Bank Surf Club Sunday Sessions
When: 3 May 2015 & 10 May 2015: 12pm-8pm
Where: 30aa Stanley Plaza, South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane
Details: This event is one not to miss filled with foods and entertainment it will certainly be the best 8 hours of your day! There will be non-stop live entertainment, bucket promos, bar food specials, plenty of food to make your taste buds go wild. Entry is free – foods & beverage prices vary.



7. Lighting Workshop
When: 16 May 2015: 11am-12pm
Where: The Build & Design Centre, 66 Merivale St, Brisbane
Details: Learn how to create with these inside tips and tricks that will give your project or space great lighting. You will also learn how to do projects on a budget, how to reduce costs, enhance mood and add value...

8. The Mummy Tree Markets
When: 30 May 2015: 9am-1pm
Where: Everton Park Hotel, Flockton St, Brisbane
Details: This petite boutique market offers a fantastic day of shopping, family fun and prize of $100 to be won! There will be plenty of entertainment, delicious foods, plenty of stalls to browse and grab alot of bargains...

9. Green Heart Fair
When: 31 May 2015: 9am-2pm
Where: 7th Brigade Park, Murphy Rd, Chermside
Details: It is back on again this year and it will be bigger and greener than ever! This Fair is all about sustainability and for those wanting to learn more about a 'greener' lifestyle. 10. Africa Day Festival
When: 31 May 2015: 10am-5pm
Where: African House, 10 Jean Howie Dr, Morningside
