This special series of public workshops is part of the exciting Adelaide Mandolin Festival program and will run from the 16th to 20th January 2017 at Lincoln College.
The workshop series will be conducted by Dr. Stephen Lalor and a team of experienced mandolin players.
Stephen Lalor studied at the University of New South Wales (MMus) and the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium in Kiev, where he undertook postgraduate studies in composition with Prof. Gennady Lyashenko, conducting and Russian mandolin/domra (with N.T. Lysenko).
During his illustrious career, Stephen Lalor has worked with some of Australia's best improvising world musicians in the 101 Candles Orkestra and collaborated with touring Balkan gypsy musicians, American and British folk mandolinists, classical masters and Academy Award-winning film composers - on instruments ranging from mandolin to electric and slide guitar.
A plucked string specialist, he is the Guest Principal Mandolinist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and as well as playing with other Australian orchestras (Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra, Orchestras Victoria), he has also performed and toured with orchestras in Asia - notably the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Singapore Symphony and the Malaysian Philharmonic.
This is a rare opportunity to discover the mandolin and mandolin family instruments and beginners are most welcome to attend.
