As any parent knows, no matter what their age, kids are always quick to pick up on the latest character trends from movies, TV and video games. So if you're searching for a way to treat the kids to a performance or meet and greet with their current favourite
without breaking the bank, the solution could be as close as your local shopping centre. Most major Melbourne centres have it covered, so here's a quick round up of who's performing where for the kids this July 2012 school holidays:
Eastland (Ringwood)
Polish up your dancing shoes and get ready to
groove with Mumble and Gloria from
Happy Feet 2 , who will be singing their way across the Centre Stage on level 1 twice daily (11am and 1pm) from 9-13 July. For an opportunity to get up close with your furry friends and maybe snap a photo or two, visit the stage at 12.00noon.
Knox City (Wantina South)
Jump aboard as perennial favourite
Thomas the Tank Engine tours level 2 of Knox City shopping centre daily from 2-15 July. Departs from nearby EB Games daily between 10.30am and 4.30pm. NB. You must purchase a ticket ($4) in order to ride.
The Glen (Glen Waverley)
Bring the kids along to watch
ABC4Kids favourites B1 and B2 in a comical
performance on centre stage of level 1 at 11am and 1pm from Monday 9 to Friday 13 July.
The Bananas will also be conducting a meet and greet between shows, near Cotton On Kids.
Southland (Cheltenham)
See Spongebob Square Pants and his friends Patrick and Squidward
live on stage getting up to all their usual crazy antics in two daily shows, from Sunday 8 July to Tuesday 10 July. To say hello or catch a photo opportunity with Spongebob, be at Centre Court at 12noon or 2pm.
Northland (Preston)
Start your engines as the characters from Disney Pixar
Cars 2 roar into Northland! In a special interactive trackside experience from 9-13 July (11am-2pm), kids can join racing aficionado
Doc Hudson's Driver Training Track as he takes a spin.
These are just some of the many great - and FREE - school holiday activities around in July 2012. Why not check out your local newspaper or shopping centre for more ideas? Better still, share with us your best school holiday tip in the comment section below.
