Brisbane in July is alive with a diverse range of free entertainment and events, so don't let a lack of money hamper your social life. If you're interested in sport (Queenslander!), literature, food, music or endurance challenges there's something for you in this list.
True Grit
Obstacle, endurance and fitness challenge courses are all the rage at the moment and the new player in that market is True Grit, the first military style obstacle course designed by Australian Special Forces, and we all know these guys aren't playing. The races raise money for the
Commando Welfare Trust and
Legacy , supporting the families of lost soldiers and members who have been wounded in operations.
If you want to compete
registration is still open at a cost of $110 - $120 per person. The 11 kilometre course has 30 obstacles to challenge you but you can go along for the ride and get some vicarious thrills as a spectator, because unlike similar events, spectators are admitted
free. Car parking is available at a cost of $10.
Enjoy a day in the winter sunshine watching other people punish themselves. Watch this video to see what's in store.
