Following the success of the Bunjil re-creation planting and cultural celebration events in May and June, two more free events are planned for July and August.
The Nillumbik shire is offering the opportunity to get involved in the creation of an interpretive trail. Free field days on indigenous culture, European heritage and biodiversity will help inspire you to create your own interpretive art. This is your chance to explore the many aspects of bush land reserves with other like-minded people.
**July
Heritage Walk **
12rd July 10-1pm
Embrace this unique opportunity to listen to Elders tell their stories about local significant sites throughout Panton Hill bush land reserves.
This walk starts at Bulwidj reserve, Clintons Rd Smiths Gully and finishes at Wimbi Reserve.
**August
Ecology of Orchids**
16 August 10-1pm
Meet with an ecologist, Doug Freed, who will host this event which explores the beauty of nature including beautiful orchids. Meet at the Fire fighters Memorial park, Bunjil Reserve in Panton Hill.
Look out for the follow up 'Art in the bush' workshops offered in spring. In October creations will be on display at the 'Made on the Hill' expo at the 'On the Hill Festival'.
See also other free sustainability events offered by Nillumbik Shire, for example solar electricity systems, soil matters, backyard chooks and reusable nappies.
