Every facet of our lives has been influenced by that invention in the ether - the Internet. In fact, it has become so entwined in our daily experience, we tend to forget how much our lives are enriched by it. Yet, to reap all the benefits of this infinite resource, you must have a basic understanding of how to use it.

Unfortunately, some of us still have difficulty using the internet despite its wide availability. And it can be difficult to learn the fundamentals now, when most of the world seems to be so far ahead.

Internet Basics

If you feel like you got left behind, or know someone who feels that way, well, you are not alone. And to address this need, the Ashfield and Haberfield libraries are hosting free drop-in sessions as part of their bid to promote Lifelong Learning in the community.

Even those with a bit more experience should feel comfortable to show up, and if you have a laptop you may bring that as well. Of course, if you are unsure if these sessions are appropriate for your level of experience, or you have any other queries, you can enquire with Chandra on 9716 1810.

The Internet basics session is held at Ashfield Library on the last Thursday of each month, and at the Haberfield library on the last Friday of each month. Both sessions start at 10 am. What's more you don't need to book, so feel free to drop in on a whim.

Facebook

Facebook may be a baffling concept for you, but not for much longer. With another set of drop-in sessions dedicated to this fun social site, you will be connecting with old friends on Facebook in no time.

Normally held on the third Thursday of the month at the Ashfield library, and the third Friday of the month at the Haberfield library, the drop-in sessions begin at 10 am at each location. For more information, contact Emma on 9716 1810. Booking is not required.

For all sessions it is a good idea to confirm dates and times. Both libraries also intend to continue these drop-in sessions for the rest of 2014 - but with fresh topics, e.g. e-books and twitter.

To keep up to speed with the latest topics and dates, refer to the Computer Classes page on the Ashfield library website.
