Centro Colonnades are offering a fun activity for kids these school holidays, with
free ice skating until the 22nd of July. All you need to do is being yourselves and get ready for some free fun.
A ice skating rink has been set up in the ground floor of the Colonnades shopping centre, and between the times of 10am and 4pm daily you can take advantage of the free lessons. Children between the ages of 5 and 13 are encouraged to participate. With
Disney on Ice so soon on the entertainment calendar, this is a great chance to get kids excited about ice skating.
Make sure their is an adult on hand to be able to sign the consent forms, once they're signed the friendly staff will take your kids off your hands for about 30 minutes. You don't need to worry about lacing up skates, they'll take care of everything for you and help the kids out when they need it. Parents are then free to watch the lessons.
There are about 20 kids in one lesson, working with a professional ice skating coach. The coach is very patient and great at working with kids, making sure that the classes are suitable for people with varying ice skating skills. Your kids will get taught simple ways of moving around the ice. Each kid gets some one on one attention where the instructor will let them try out the skills they have learned. Then kids are encouraged to make their way around the rink for some free skating. There are always staff around to help kids out a bit when they're a bit unsure or unsteady.
These lessons aren't going to turn your kids into star skaters overnight, but they'll give your kids an idea as to whether they'd like to pursue ice skating in the future. If they are fans you can always visit the nearby
Noralunga Ice Spots Skate Rink to continue the fun with more lessons.
