Free guided walks are every Tuesday, February to November


As mentioned in a recent article, Whipbird Walk and Whipbird Village, free guided walks are available to the public every Tuesday morning, between February and November, at 9.00am - excluding public holidays - at Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden. Keen walkers' are to meet at the Arts and Ecology Centre at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden. Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Council and volunteers, the following fabulous walks have been organised for February this year.

Using More Local Native Plants in your Garden


On this guided walk at the Botanic Garden, walkers will get some inspirational ideas to enhance home gardens, using native plants. Discover delightful ways to create a tranquil, climate-friendly garden using flowering native ground covers, shrubs and vines that are often drought tolerant. Learn how to create a habitat for birds, bees and butterflies and also how to utilise grasses, sedges and trees of various heights to achieve a structural effect in your backyard.

Mystery Walking Tour of Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden


Walkers will enjoy a gentle walk through the magnificent Botanic Garden with one of the very friendly and knowledgeable garden guides. Get to marvel at some of the garden highlights; be lucky enough to spot a resident koala or fall totally in love with the serenity that surrounds the contemporary sculptures.

Sculpture Garden Guided Walk


A fascinating walk, looking at sculptures created by Australian and international artists, whilst enjoying lush, green gardens, filled with indigenous plants. Hear all about the history of the area; enjoy the sounds of birds calling to one another and inhale the bush scents, all the while looking for local fauna with a guide.

Even though these walks are all totally FREE, with limited spots available, registration is absolutely essential. The availability that I have indicated, was correct at time of writing. Please follow each walk's link to register your interest for an educational walk through one of the most spectacular Bushland Botanic Gardens on the Sunshine Coast. A fun way to learn about the birds and the bees and butterflies too!
