As allergies continue to rise worldwide, there's an ever-growing need for awareness events. It's been documented that four million Australians are living with an allergic disease; a time when catering for allergies has never been greater.
Aptly hosted in Melbourne, argued as the world's food allergy capital of the world, the Free From Show and Allergy Show will run concurrently over three days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. These two events are designed to '
empower and educate those avoiding foods, allergens or substances due to choice or necessity.'
The two shows will be showcasing a series of exhibitors featuring products, services and educational advice for those living and managing food intolerances and allergies in their daily lives.
Ticket holders will have access to both shows as well as a program of prominent expert speakers:
Smart Food – what's new in functional foods, vitamins, and sports supplements
Home & Living – product ranges that eliminate harmful chemicals used in the home
Let's Get Personal – ethical, cruelty-free and sustainable options in skincare, hair and beauty
Allergy Learning Centre – a program of free seminars from leading allergists
Health and Wellness Centre – tips and insights from industry experts and accredited professionals
This three-day event is scheduled to cater to those with dietary needs and exclusion lifestyles spanning gluten, dairy, peanut, tree nut, parabens, fructose, sugar, egg, soy, GMO and meat. Sustainable and eco-friendly brands and education, as well as FODMAP friendly foods, will also be a focus for the shows.
The Allergy Show is a chance for visitors to chance to listen to Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia health educators in a dedicated forum. Topics will include challenges of current food labelling, hosted by A&AA CEO Maria Said, infant feeding resources by National Allergy Strategy Coordinator Sandra Vale and Thunderstorm Asthma by Asthma Australia.
The Free From Show will showcase a hub of information from speakers on a range of topics including the role of the gut microbiota in allergic disease from Mimi Tang, Professor at The University of Melbourne's Department of Paediatrics, and Paediatric Immunologist Allergist for the Royal Children's Hospital, and an introduction to plant-based nutrition and its benefits presented by Plant-Based General Practitioner, Dr Malcolm MacKay.
Samples on offer during the three-day event include Twobays Brewing Co.'s gluten-free beer, Ben& Jerry's latest non-dairy flavours, and skin-sensitive beauty products. A list of confirmed exhibitors during the event will include Bakers Delight, Orgran Health & Nutrition, Rebel Kitchen, Schar, Tumerix, YUM. Gluten Free, Weis, Organic Formulations, Nestle Health Science and JellyFish Mattress.
