Free Fun during the Sydney Fringe Festival
The annual Sydney Fringe Festival nearly upon us. Opening night is Friday, 4th of September and it is time to start making dates in the diary for a September full of frolics, fun and potential sleep deprivation.
With so many great events to attend across the City, it could be quite overwhelming deciding what to do. Never fear; over a number of Weekend Notes articles, I will break it down into some easy to fathom categories and highlights and, just because, these are all going to begin with F.
The first installment are a selection of five FREE things to do:
A collaboration of local artists, writers and musicians come together to showcase three video games, concept art, and some fun party bands. There is even a prize for the best (video game theme) dressed.
Enjoy a journey of the Deep South, with country, ragtime, and blues, through 1950s pop, and ending in fresh exotica. There will also be audience participation with guests suggesting lyrics for impromptu songs.
Wander through St.Peters from the corner of Applebee and Hutchinson Streets and be entranced by glowing lantern trees preening in their own light, the flickering twitch of giant cats' eyes, and a tribe of reflective night watchman intent on causing creative chaos!
Chatswood will be transformed with hundreds of stalls, a parade and ten entertainment areas including activities for Kids @ The Concourse, the Urban Screen, the Youth Lounge in Chatswood Mall, Big Band Arena in Spring Street, Dance Extravaganza and the Orchid Show in the Civic Pavilion.
