Let's Celebrate Belmont is the annual major event by the City of Belmont and this article contains a couple of events from that festival that's worth travelling for, even for those of us living on the other side of the river. I mean, free activities with fireworks finale would surely entice many a family to come visit them.
Jazz in the Park
**Sun, 6 Nov, 4-6pm
Tomato Lake, Oats St, Kewdale**
Tomato Lake in itself is already a place worth visiting, with its walk path around the lake, the fun playground, and a colony of Australian Ibis in residence. On this Sunday afternoon, there will be the bonus of live jazz music played by Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys. Feel free to bring your dance shoes as Perth Swing Dance Academy will also be there.
Kaleidoscope
**10-13 Nov, 5.30-9.30pm
Joondalup**
We are often envious of some of the festivals they have over east such as
Vivid Sydney ,
but now for the first time, we are going to have our own illumination festival, so we need not envy them no more. It's a big festival with
multiple activities and locations in Joondalup, so be prepared to walk around for a bit to enjoy it to the full. And you're not only invited to watch, but also to participate through their program called "Get creative" with following activities in their particular location behind Lotteries House:
Glow-zone Craft Area - Thu-Sun, 5:30-8:30pm
Light-speed Hula Spin - Thu-Sun, 5:30-8:30pm
Glow Show - Thu-Sun 6:45-7:30pm
Shadow Theatre - Thu-Sun, 5:30-8:30pm
Grow Light Trolley Gardens - Thu-Sun 5:30-7pm
Milk Lights - Thu-Sun 5:30-8:30pm
Lantern Tangle Cascade - Thu-Sun 5:30-8:30pm
Glow Yoga - Sun 6:15-7:15pm
**Turning on the Christmas Lights
Fri, 18 Nov from 6.30pm
Forrest Place, Perth**
This is an annual event that has become sort of a tradition for Perth families. One Friday evening every November, the bright but energy efficient Christmas lights are turned on for the City of Peth by the mayor accompanied by Santa. But to make the evening more merry, there will be carol singing, not just by the mayor supported by the crowd, but by seriously good carol singers worth listening to. Let us all come adore...
Summer Art Beach Party
**Sat, 26 Nov 2–9pm
Brighton Beach Scarborough**
City of Stirling is a big city council and as such they can organise big community events like this one. They promise "activities for children, parents, youth and everyone in between" including glowing festoon lights, a DJ, retro furniture, food trucks, art installations and a pop up bar. As the date gets closer, I'm sure they'll have even more activities confirmed, so be prepared to kick off our summer season by visiting this event.

It's hard for any family to say no to an evening of free entertainment topped off with fireworks. The only downside: Unless you can be at two places at the same time, you really have to choose between this one and the above event in Scarborough.
