Free shows, movies, exhibits, and markets in May
A light show, movies, top markets, and an art show, and all for free this May in Sydney.
On May 25th, the start of Vivid's 'Lighting of the Sails' is not to be missed. This event at the Sydney Opera House has amazing light projections created by Jonathan Zawana. This is the 10th anniversary of Vivid Sydney, and the city will be transformed through dynamic digital sculptures and artistic works.

For a free movie screening, visit the Art Gallery of NSW. The gallery is showing films about 1968 and how this particular year was significant in the world of acting and film making. Screenings are on Wednesday May 2nd at 2pm and 7.15pm, and Sunday May 6th at 2pm.
For some gift shopping, and browsing, the Balmain Markets on May 12th and 26th at 217-223 Darling Street are ideal. These markets are renowned for providing a unique experience for the shopper, excellent coffee and over 140 stalls. You'll find creative artworks and handmade items, second-hand vintage clothing and a variety of other items on display.
For another great market, visit the Double Bay Markets at Guilfoyle Park, on Bay Street. Enjoy organic treats made from freshly grown fruit and vegetables, and home-baked goodies. The May market is on Thursday May 10th, and entry is free.
For something a bit different, check out the Museum of Contemporary Art's 'Live Art: Dossier of Osmosis' on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 8pm across May 2018. Join various performers as they demonstrate their art through the use of an ultrasonic speaker, light, sound, and images, to explore the theme of global systems.
