Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society Youth in Blues Project
Blues music lovers are in for a treat on Saturdays from 1-4pm in July, when there are free performances by young blues musicians. This Program offers young people a place to show their musical talent in a supportive environment, and there is the chance to gain recognition and even win prizes. Events occur at the Royal Standard Hotel at 333 Williams Street in West Melbourne.
Mix Tape 1980's: Appropriation, Subculture, Critical Style
This exhibition explores the decadent decade of the 1980s including music, culture, and fashion. The 1980s was a decade of dynamic change in contemporary art and culture, and this exhibit has a large range of items that will take you back to this fascinating period in Australian history. It is on at The Ian Potter Centre NGV Australia at Federation Square until the end of winter.
Cluster Exhibition
Find out the stories and patterns behind Melbourne Street names. There are thousands of clusters of streets named within a single theme across Melbourne. This exhibition presents some of the best, named after football stars, The Beatles, and historical figures. This exhibit is curated by Stephen Banham who is a renowned graphic designer and author. This exhibit at the City Gallery on the Ground Floor of 110 Swanston Street Melbourne is free, and runs until the 30th of July 2013.
