It doesn't have to cost you a fortune to participate in Good Beer Week (GBW) 2016. Running from Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd May, you'll find free (or free entry) events in each of the five event streams of GBW - Foodie, Beer Lover, Beer 101, Beer Geek and Good Times.



Good Beer College

Good Beer College peels back the mystery of beer, leading you through the importance of freshness, the impact of ingredients like malt, what techniques such as barrel aging can achieve, and the background of styles such as the IPA.

These entertaining and informative sessions are perfect if you're just dipping your toes into the beer world, or if you and a few mates are keen to learn more about a particular element of beer tasting.

Presented by Little Creatures, local and international guest speakers will also showcase the beauty of beer and show you how to unlock your tastebuds when your get your lips around your next glass.

Beer School at Young & Jacksons

Go back to Beer School at Young & Jackson for a week of classes, talks and activities from some of the best beer professionals around. Sessions run for an hour, and you will learn about malt, hops, yeast and water, and how they all come together to create that mouth-watering brew. The class will involve sampling some delicious beers.

Uke Mochi Eats a BBQ, Drinks Baird Brewery

For the foodies, Uke Mochi eats a BBQ, drinks Baird Brewer is a night of beers and Japanese BBQ. Taking place at Dr Morse, 274 Johnston Street, Abbotsford on Thursday 19 May, the night will feature limited edition beers from Baird Brewery and charcoal BBQ Japanese that has been specially cooked to match the brews. Hops, Burn & Brine

Combine the best in Hops, Burn & Brine – Boilermakers & Picklebacks at Slowbeer Store & Café, 468 Bridge Road, Richmond on Wednesday 18 May. The team behind Slowbeer have teamed up with The Pickle Bear to present an unusual match through a range of brews, spirits and custom made pickles. Free entry. Click here for details.

Girl Power - Women and Beer

Come on down to the Fox Hotel, 351 Wellington Street, Collingwood on Sunday 15th May, from 3pm, for an afternoon of female talent, both on stage and on tap. This event features nine special brews and five great bands. Meet the brewers and the singer-song writers, get your taste buds ready and your dancing boots on for this free entry event.
