Christmas is over, the new year has been rung in... and there's still weeks to go before the kids go back to school. MPavilion - Australia's premium architectural commission and performance/activity venue has the solution with a bunch of free events to keep your children occupied this January. Here are some of the options on offer.

Circus Play in the Park with Westside Circus

Children can take part in a series of on-the-go circus activities including tumbling, juggling, diablo, acrobatics, gymnastics and acrobalance in these workshops being run by Westside Circus. The workshops are suitable for children of all abilities and backgrounds.

When: Tuesday 7th - Thursday 9th January, 11am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm.

Suitable for: ages 6 - 13 years.

Loose Parts Play

Kids are invited to make a cubby house, fort or sculpture utilising recycled objects that are often discarded as junk. With the help of friendly and trained staff, children can build, create and let the creative juices flow at the Loose Parts Playground.

Open to all ages.

When: Friday 10th January, 10am - 4pm.

Rock Academy

This is a musical showcase of the work of some rising rock stars, featuring original and cover songs. See what they have achieved after a week of coaching from some of the country's finest musicians.

When: Saturday 11th January, 12pm - 5pm.

Suitable for: all ages.

Gardening Crafts with Sage Garden

Kids are invited to simply drop into these fun gardening workshops and get their hands dirty with a range of green-thumbed activities like planting and flower pressing.

When: Monday 13th - Thursday 16th January, 10am - 12pm.

Bug Blitz

This hands-on workshop is all about bringing arts and science together and asking kids to question the ecology around them. Meet some spiders, find out what lives in the shrubs and the waterhole around MPavilion and identify birds and bones.

When: Saturday 18th January, 10am - 12pm, and Sunday 19th January, 9.30am - 11.30am.

Suitable for: the target audience is ages 5-12, however parents and adults can also participate.

Get Arty with 2019 Artist in Residence, Beci Orpin

Artist in Residence and author Beci Orpin will host several events, including Nature Crafts (Wednesday 22nd January, 10am–12pm) and Pet Rocks (Thursday 23rd January, 10am–12pm). Children will get the opportunity to create their own craft in these hands-on workshops. All materials supplied.
