There is no better view of Melbourne from afar than that offered by the SkyHigh Observatory in the Mount Dandenong Ranges. For locals and visitors to Victoria alike, the view from SkyHigh is something to behold as it is ever-changing and always offering something new. During August, SkyHigh will be open FREE throughout the week upon presentation of the coupon found on the SkyHigh website.
Once you're inside the park, you can stay as long as you like. SkyHigh is the perfect picnic destination. Stroll around the tranquil gardens and find the perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by. There are onsite BBQ's, café and a restaurant, too. The restaurant is open for breakfast, starting at 9.15am, then lunch and dinner, closing at 10pm. Please note: BYO alcohol is not allowed. SkyHigh offers a fully licensed bar.
The gardens contain the giant chair, guaranteed to make everyone feel small, the wishing tree, the Sky High Maze (additional entry costs apply to the maze), world fountain, English garden and National park walks. A popular wedding location, you'll take away plenty of beautiful photographs and could easily spend a few hours simply enjoying the scenery. The hardest decision you'll have to make is whether to visit for the daytime or night-time view. Both are spectacular.
An hour from Melbourne CBD, SkyHigh is open every day of the week from 9am (or 8am on weekends and public holidays) until 10pm. Entry with the coupon – found on the SkyHigh website here - will save you $6 per car or $10 for a minibus or coach on weekdays during August. Simply present the coupon at the gate.
SkyHigh is located at 26 Observatory Road, Mount Dandenong.
