Treading Lightly Free Eco-Living Workshops are back in the Inner West with a great schedule of events running through July until early December. Following on from the fabulous range of courses held in the first part of 2014, the Ashfield, Burwood, City of Canada Bay, Leichhardt and Strathfield Councils are once again collaborating to bring practical workshops our way.
While there will again be some of the favourites of the last session of workshops - like 'Composting and Worm Farming', and 'Recycled Art Classes for Adults' - there are also interesting new topics this time around. Get in quick to secure a spot, keeping in mind that first priority is given to residents of the participating councils.
Here is a selection of the workshops being held:
DIY Woven Rag Rugs
Using recycled fabric easily found around the house, learn to weave rugs for your home.
Date: 10.00 - 1pm, Saturday 26th July
Will involve a tour of bushcare sites from Cadigal Reserve to the Richard Murden Reserve, conducted by Bushcare Officer Adam Ward.
Date: 9am - 12pm, Sunday 17th August
New Plants from Old - Plant Propagation Techniques
Learn from a qualified horticulturalist just how to sow from seeds and make plant cuttings without having to rely on your local plant nursery. Will also include tips on harvesting seeds, and making propagating mix.
Date: 9.30am - 12pm, Saturday 20th September
Gardening in Small Spaces
For those short on space, this workshop will demonstrate how it is possible to still grow plants at home, even if you have a limited area to work with.
Date: 2.30 - 5pm, Saturday 11th October
Upcycled Xmas Ideas
A handy and practical workshop that will help you prepare for festive season present-swapping in an eco-friendly way.
Date: 9.30am - 12.30pm, Saturday 22nd November
Organic Gardening - Pest and Disease Management
Learn how to keep your organic garden healthy.
Date: 10.30am - 12pm, Sunday 7th December
