Sydney is positively swimming with festivities this December. The most popular are obviously those that are Christmas related, such as the plethora of free
Christmas Carols events around town. If you fancy some outdoor movies and are prepared to pay there are also plenty of
places for you to get your cinematic fix . But if you're all
ho ho ho'd out you can still find some fabulous free events with nary a sign of Santa, Rudolph,
Christmas carols or celebrity singers.

[SECTION]Cultural Festivals at Darling Harbour[/SECTION]
Not one, but two cultural festivals will be celebrated at Darling Harbour this December and they couldn't be more diverse.
First up is the
Sydney Armenian Festival . Not that you'd know it based on the exploits of the world's most famous Armenians (the Kardashians), Armenia actually has a very rich and ancient cultural history. You can find out all about it on 9 December when traditional arts, music, dance, craft and food will all be part of the festivities. And the bonus is that there won't be a Kardashian in sight - well, at least not one of
those Kardashians.
When: Sunday 9 December
Where: Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour

website here or the
Facebook page here .
One week later things will be turning Japanese at Darling Harbour for the annual
Japanese Festival . This colourful cultural explosion will include the
Japan Expo and will showcase traditional and contemporary performance, Japanese food, tourism and arts. I think the real highlight will be the delightfully named
Yakuta Beauty and Hunky Contest . How could you resist?
When: Sunday 16 December from 10am to 7pm
Where: Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour

website here .

The Actors Centre Australia' s Founding and Creative Director, Dean Carey who, it's worth noting, taught Hugh Jackman everything he knows. Now there's a man with acting creds.
