As part of its Winter Arts Program to promote and celebrate the arts, the City of Casey will be offering free community creative arts workshops from Saturday 7 July— Saturday 21 July.

If you have ever wanted to take up drawing, then the 'Introduction to Drawing' workshop is the best place to start. This two-hour workshop with award-winning local artist, Janice Mills, will teach you basic drawing techniques. You are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and pencils, if you own them. If creative writing is more your style but you've never quite managed to put pen to paper, then the 'Exciting Writing' workshop should guide you in the right direction with advice on learning to generate ideas and how to begin your story. It is includes an introduction to story writing processes and elements to create your own story. Beginners welcome. Get the rare opportunity to work on capturing the human form using clay at the free 'Clay Sculpture from Life' workshop with professional sculptor, Viktor Kalinowski, whose work has appeared in numerous exhibitions. All materials are supplied and participants are also encouraged to bring their own drawing materials. Date: Saturday 14 July Time: 2pm–4pm Venue: Blind Bight Community Centre
If you're interest is in painting then the following two workshops will give you the chance to delve into two different forms of painting. Learn how to hand paint soaps with local artist Helan Tero at the 'Hand Painted Soaps' workshop, where you can then transfer your handpainting skills towards painting candles, picture frames, and mirrors. 'Exploring Painting and Printmaking' workshop will introduce you to basic painting and printmaking techniques. The focus of this workshop will be on animals and the environment, where you can complete your piece of art at your own pace, with all materials supplied.
