General Assembly, which focuses on events and classes in design, marketing and entrepreneurial business, is holding a number of free events and classes to celebrate its first birthday and the launch of its Melbourne campus.
From 14 August till 21 August, General Assembly is partnering with local businesses and organisations to celebrate local Melbourne products - from tech and design to music, food and coffee - via a variety of events, panel discussions, free classes and celebrations.
The week-long celebration begins with an evening of music and drinks on 14 August to celebrate the launch of General Assembly's Melbourne campus, as well as its first birthday.
On Saturday 15 August, the campus will host an open day for prospective students.
From Monday 17 August till Friday 21 August free talks will be held at the campus, including:
Trending in Tech: Speakers from tech companies born in Melbourne discussing their perspectives on innovation
Caffeination Culture: Speakers from Melbourne cafes share insights into the professional world of coffee making and drinking
Disruptive Design: Speakers from design-centric companies born in Melbourne will talk about groundbreaking design in our culture and economy
Food for the Future: Speakers from Melbourne restaurants and food-related businesses will talk about food sustainability and culture
Makers in Music: Speakers from Melbourne's music scene will discuss digital technologies and their impact on the music industry
Free classes will also be held at the campus throughout the week, including:
Intro to Data Analysis: What is data analytics and how to understand and draw insights from data
Intro to UX with Paper Prototyping: Learn how to think through your projects and business problems from a user's perspective by physically mapping out concerns
Intro to Building Websites: Learn the basics of programming
Intro to Digital Marketing: Learn the fundamentals of digital marketing
Getting Started in Product Management: Learn what product management is, what skills and job roles it covers and why it benefits businesses
