Below are the top free Christmas events this year:
1. Little Treasures 2014
When: 23 November 2014-24 December 2014: 12pm-5pm Where: Pepper Street Arts Centre, 558 Magill Rd, Magill Details: An exhibition featuring more than 60 artists offering hundreds of locally made art and craft pieces at very affordable prices, film & digital photography, paintings, portraiture, jewellery, collages, textile art, embroidery, silk painting, ceramics, handmade glass beads, wood carvings, sculpture, musical instruments and plenty more goodies and great gifts.
2. Singing Christmas Tree When: 6, 13 & 20 December 2014: 8pm-8:30pm Where: St Peter's Lutheran Church, Loxton Details: Bring the picnic blanket and your Christmas singing voices and join in the fun. Each 4 tier on the six metre high Christmas tree is filled with enthusiastic singers who bring the tree to life with much-loved traditional carols.
3. French Christmas Markets
When: 28 & 29 November 2014: Friday: 5pm-12am, Saturday: 10am-10pm Where: Unley Soldiers' Memorial Gardens, Cnr Unley Rd & Thomas St, Unley Details: The French Christmas Market will officially be opened by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the opening ceremony will be followed with an aerial parade of 3 historic airplanes to commemorate and pay tribute to the courage of Australian soldiers. There will be a concert under the stars in the evening with everything French, from wine and cheese to delicious croissants, live music, traditional handcrafts and gifts and plenty more...
4. Christmas Street Party
When: 30 November 2014: 4pm-7:30pm
Where: Malvern Uniting Church, 44 Marlborough St, Malvern
Details: The whole family will love this street party with plenty of things to do and see. A variety of Christmas market stalls, entertainment for the little ones, plenty of activities, puppet shows, face painting, jumping castle, sumo suits, side shows, gingerbread decorating, live entertainment throughout the event and plenty more.
5. Adelaide Cinematheque Christmas Party
When: 1 December 2014: 6:30pm-9:30pm
Where: 13 Morphett St, Adelaide
Details: Enjoy a drink and a flick (Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas).
6. Lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree in Victoria Square
When: 5 December 2014 – 8 January 2015: 8:20pm - every night to 9am 5.1.15
Where: Victoria Square / Tamtanyangga
Details: The massive and beautiful Christmas tree will be turned on. To mark the occasion there will be entertainment followed by first night Christmas Movies in the Square, bring the whole family and enjoy the night under the stars!
7. Seniors Christmas Trading Table
When: 5 December 2014: 12:45pm-4pm
Where: Mercury Cinema, 13 Morphett St, Adelaide
Details: Pick up homemade wares made by Mercury's Seniors, jam, pickles, baked goods, knitting, crafts and plenty more. There will be a gold-coin sausage sizzle as well.
8. Playford Christmas Pageant
When: 29 November 2014: 9:30am – Midnight
Where: cnr Hope & Queen Streets, Smithfield and the parade will finish at Munno Para Shopping City next to Kmart Tyre & Auto.
Details: A colourful community parade the whole family will love, with the pageant including over 40 floats, heaps of give-aways, bands, clowns and characters. Jason 'Snowy' Carter & the Street Crew from Mix102.3 will be there too. The parade starts from cnr of Hope & Queen Streets, Smithfield and the parade will make its way towards Munno Para Shopping City via Anderson Walk & Warooka Drive, officially finishing at Munno Para Shopping City near Kmart Tyre & Auto. There are plenty of activities, carols, Santa visit and photos, craft activities, face painting, games and plenty more activities for the whole family.
9. Christmas comes to Blackwood
When: 5 December 2014: 6pm-Midnight
Where: Main Rd, Blackwood & the Pageant Fair is at Waite Reserve, cnr of Waite & Young Streets, Blackwood
Details: For over 50 years this pageant has been entertaining families and this year there will be more than 75 floats including vehicle floats, walking groups and bands, market stalls, Pageant Fair, and plenty more entertainment throughout the event.
10. Family Christmas Celebration
When: 7 December 2014: 10:30am-2:30pm
Where: The Salvation Army, 166 Fosters Rd, Oakden
Details: The whole family will love this event. The day will be filled with plenty of fun from activities for the little ones including a kids Christmas service, jumping castle, native animal display, visit from Santa, crafts, Christmas carols, plenty of food for lunch and much more.
11. Christmas At Our Place
When: 6 December 2014: 4pm-9pm
Where: Civic Centre, 72 Woodville Rd, Woodville
