11 Free Children's Halloween Events 2022

The 31st of October is almost upon us and with-it Halloween. Many children will want to go trick or treating but if you'd rather something a bit more secure here's eleven free events across Melbourne, (listed in alphabetical order of suburb.) You might also like to keep the kids Halloween happy at home and the Weekend Notes Article 13 Things to do on Halloween shows how you can get into the spirit.


1. Carnegie: Spooktacular Storytime. For children four years and over. Children can dress up in their favourite costumes and enjoy some spooky stories. This free event is on Monday 31st October 2022, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at The Carnegie Library and Community Centre, 7 Shepparson Avenue, Carnegie. Click here for more details.


2. Craigieburn: Halloween Haunted House Walkthrough. A family event in the style of 'American Haunts' in which a garage and back yard has been converted for Halloween with actors, animated props, and smoke, sound and lighting effects. This free experience is designed to give you a good scare and a laugh as well. Only four people go through at once. The experience runs on Monday 31st October 2022, 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm at Bisley Court, Craigieburn. Entry is free and chlidren receive free lollies. 3. Ferntree Gully: A Spookacular Halloween Storytime and Scary Cupcake Decorating. An event for children over four years old. Children can dress up in spooky outfits and join in a fashion parade. The children will enjoy Halloween themed stories and afterwards can stay for some Halloween cupcake decorating. This free event is on Monday 31st October 2022 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at The Ferntree Gully Library, 1010 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully. 4. Hoppers Crossing: Smarts and Crafts Halloween Spiders Webs. A workshop for children aged 8 to 15 where they will learn how to make a spiderweb decoration, with spiders, using wool and sticks. The workshop runs on Tuesday 18th October 2022, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Wyndham Library Service - Hoppers Crossing (Plaza) Library, Derrimut Road Werribee. The event is free but bookings are required. 5. Keysborough: Halloween in the Park. A spooky family evening at Pirate Park in Keysborough. Folks can dress up as their favourite creepy character and participate in organised activities. This free event runs on Monday 31st October 2022, 5:00 pm to7:30 pm at 39 Somerfield Drive North Keysborough. Click here to reserve your spot.

6. Melbourne City: Halloween Storytime. For children aged 3 to 5 years. The kids can dress up in their Halloween costumes, listen to some spooky stories and do some spooky craft. This event is on Monday 31st October 2022 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am at City Library, 253 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Bookings are not necessary. 7. Notting Hill: Halloween Fright Night. A family Halloween party with games, fun Halloween activities, and a speciality Halloween feast with plenty of Halloween decorations to set the scene. This free event is on Friday 28th October 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Notting Hill Neighbourhood House, 37 Westerfield Drive, Notting Hill. 8. Point Cook: Hogwarts Halloween. A Harry Potter themed fun outing for children aged 12 to 18 where kids dress up as their favourite character, play games and go on a scavenger hunt for prizes. This event runs on Friday 28th October 2022, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Wyndham Library Service- Point Cook Library 1-21 Cheetham Street, Point Cook. The event is free but bookings are required and can be made from 7th October 2022. Click here to reserve your place.


9. Southbank: A Witches Ball Movie Night. A free screening of the movie A Witches ball for children aged between 5 and 12 years. Popcorn and cordial will be served during the session. The screening is on Monday 31st October 2022 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Southbank Library, at Boyd, 207 City Road, Southbank. 10. Woodend: 2022 Community Halloween Party. A fun family evening with entertainment, a sausage sizzle, fairy flow, popcorn and more. This free event is run by the Woodend Rotary Club on Monday 31st October 2022, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Woodend Children's Park, 12 Nicholson Street, Woodend. Click here to reserve your place.


11. Yarra Junction: Halloween Street Party Extravaganza. A Halloween adventure beginning at the Cire Community Hub to pick up your Halloween showbag and scorecard of places to pick up your Halloween loot. The participating local businesses will stamp the card and give a trick or treat for your bag. There will also be a best dressed competition with a Lego prize. This free event runs on Monday 31st October 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Yarra Junction Community Hub, 2463 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction. Click here to reserve your space.
