Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust will be running a series of free bus tours at Springvale Botanical Cemetery. The tours will take place from 10:30am-1:30pm, with lunch at Café Vita et flores included.
Established in 1901, Springvale Botanical Cemetery is Victoria's largest crematorium and memorial park, covering an area of 422 acres. It is well known for it's beautiful gardens, with the grounds featuring between 80,000-100,000 trees and 29,501 roses consisting of 255 different varieties.

The cemetery has a number of special areas, including:
Song He Yuan Buddhist Cemetery
Jewish areas and the Jewish Children's Lawn
Police Memorial
The Australian War Graves Area
Some Interesting Facts about the Cemetery:
It takes more than two weeks to mow the entire site
The site is home to a number of different types of animals, including possums, turtles, birds, frogs and even echidnas.
There are many old trees, including a Red River Gum which is believed to be 400 years old
Tour Dates and Bookings:
Places are limited, so bookings are required. To book, just select the date you'd like to attend from the list below and follow registration instructions at the link.
There will be 4 tours during 2018, scheduled for the following dates:
Each tour commences at 10:30am, with guests requested to arrive at Outside Cafe Vita et Flores at least 10 minutes early, so that the bus can depart at 10:30am.
Guests are also required to bring their printed ticket with them.
Extra Information:
All guests are required to wear closed-toe walking shoes
