Camberwell Fresh Food Market is an all round great place to visit for all your fresh produce needs. There are butchers, seafood vendors, florists, fruit and vegetable stalls and several delicatessens. All the produce seems to be so much fresher than you can buy at the supermarket.

This review is not however about the Market as such, but about a recent initiative within the market precinct that I think deserves some attention. A corner at the back of the market has been set up as a 'pop up park', complete with tables, seats and artificial grass. The park incorporates a free book exchange. The idea is that you can take a book for free, as long as you leave one in its place.

At this stage it's still fairly small scale and needs a bit of support. So, if you're a generous soul, bring three books along and donate them! Opp shops often have books for $1, so it's not such a big impost.

What I like about the location of this park is that you can by some bread, dips and olives at one of the market stores, and enjoy your lunch in interesting surroundings while browsing through a borrowed book.

I'm also impressed that the Market decided to use this space for a non-commercial purpose - although perhaps if it attracts more customers then everyone benefits.

I hope the idea takes off.
