Free breakfast, fireworks, entertainment, and more
So another Australia Day is coming soon. And we're all in a holiday mood and want to celebrate. Of course.

The question is what do you want to do and where do you want to do it? You can either do your own thing and gather all your cronies for a private function, or you can head out to one of the public ones out there. Some even come with free barbecue, so really, all you need to do is show up (and prepare your friendly face for all the other people wanting free breakfast too--noone wants a grumpy festival goer).

Where can we find one of those free thingies then? From this list below (in chronological order where exact time is known):

Morning/ Breakfast Events

  • City of Cockburn's Australia Day BBQ
    Where: Coogee Beach Reserve, Powell Road, Coogee
    When: 7-11am
    What: Family entertainment, free sausage sizzle and ice-cream

  • City of Mandurah's Australia Day Celebrations
    Where: Mandurah Foreshore
    When: 7-11am
    What: Big Aussie Breakfast by the Lions Club, Active Citizenship Awards, Flotilla of Boats, Best Dressed Award

  • City of Canning's Australia Day Citizenship Breakfast
    Where: Cannington Leisureplex, Sevenoaks Street, Cannington
    When: 7.30am
    What: Free breakfast, musical performances by Canning City Brass Band

  • City of Bayswater's Australia Day Community BBQ
    Where: Pat O'Hara Reserve, Wellington Road, Morley
    When: 8:30-10:30am
    What: Free barbecue, live music, kid's entertainment

  • City of Melville's Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony
    Where: John Creaney Reserve, corner of Parry Avenue and Benningfield Road, Bull Creek
    When: 8:30-11am
    What: Gold coin donation for breakfast, Australia Day Awards, Scouts Flag Raising Ceremony

  • Town of Cambridge's Australia Day Festival and Citizenship Ceremony
    Where: Perry Lakes Reserve, off Perry Lakes Drive (near Cambridge Scout Hall), Floreat
    What: Children's entertainment, free breakfast

  • Combined Council's Australia Day Celebrations (of Peppermint Grove, Cottesloe and Mosman Park)
    What: Flag raising ceremony, Australia Day Awards, free community barbeque breakfast, family entertainment

Evening/ Fireworks Events

  • City of Fremantle's Indian Ocean Fireworks
    Where: Bathers Beach, Fremantle
    When: 3-8pm
    What: Stage performances, markets, kid's entertainment, fireworks

  • City of Perth's Skyworks
    Where: Langley Park Entertainment Zone, Celebration Zone South Perth, or Survival Perth Zone in Supreme Court Garden
    When: 3-8.30pm
    What: Hundreds of free family entertainment options in Langley Park and South Perth Zones catering for different ages. Make Smoking History Survival Day Concert in Supreme Court Garden. Most celebration areas are smoke and alcohol-free. BYO picnic zones available in limited parts of Kings Park and Langley Park (see here for map). Finale is Skyworks at 8pm.

  • Town of Bassendean's Australia Day Festival of Fireworks
    Where: Ashfield Oval, Guildford Road, Ashfield
