1. Docklands Fireworks – Every Friday night in the month of August the Docklands sky will be illuminated by a dazzling fireworks display. Every fireworks display will be accompanied by an euphonious and entertaining musical theme. Rug up, show up early and settle yourself in a good vantage point in the Piazza at Docklands to get an excellent view of the fantastic and stunning fireworks. 2. Soles4Souls Australia – On 2 August 2013 Soles4Souls Australia will kick off in the Federation Square. All are invited to the Atrium at the Federation Square to join in and make this event a huge success by donating a pair of shoes and a gold coin. Our support will provide adequate footwear to 24,000 people in our global community by protecting their feet from disease and making their everyday life much easier. 3. Daffodil day – From 21 August 2013, for four long days Cancer Council Victoria will be celebrating the Daffodil Day 2013 by creating a stunning Garden of Hope at Federation Square's Amphitheatre. The Garden of Hope aspires to encourage everyone to acknowledge and support the victims of cancers and pay tribute to the memory of loved ones who lost the battle with cancer. An army of Cancer Council staff, volunteers and ambassadors will work in harmony to spearhead a wide array of activities and to ensure that the Garden of Hope will become a roaring success. 4. Melbourne Day – On 30 August 2013, Melbourne will be celebrating its 178h birthday. In the books of history, 30 August is recognised as the day of the arrival of the first European settlers on the north bank of the Yarra River in the year 1835 on a schooner named the Enterprize. This site is now known as the Enterprize Park located at the corner of the Williams Street and the Flinders Street, close to the old Customs House. Thus, a city named Melbourne was born.
