Nature Wand Activity


Make some room on the broom and fly down to see Adelaide City Libraries pop-up stall in Rundle Mall under the Gawler Place Canopy for a magical nature craft activity on Tuesday 3 October 2023. Starting at 1 pm to 2 pm, the event will begin with stories and spells and after that, you can create your very own magic wand. Book here .


Magical Garden Craft for Kids


In this 2.5 hour nature art workshop, children will have the opportunity to decorate a terracotta pot for their own special native plant. You will also have the opportunity to create and decorate miniature magical air-dry clay sculptures such as fairies, elves, mushrooms and gnomes to accompany your native pot plant.

Located at Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre, 66 Commercial Road, Port Adelaide, this event is suitable for primary school-aged children. Please book here for Thursday, 5 October or Friday, 13 October 2023 session, both sessions starting at 10.30 am to 1 pm.



Nature's Intricacies: Drawing Native Plants

Learn more about plant biology, flower dissection and how to draw scientifically correct illustrations of Australian Native Plants. A hands-on workshop where science and art come together is suitable for children aged 13 years old and up. Located at Greenacres Library, 2 Fosters Road, Greenacres, please book here to join event on Thursday, 5 October 2023, starting at 10 am to 1 pm.


Lantern Making Workshop


Join Adelaide artist and illustrator Sally Heinrich for the Lantern Making Workshop** and celebrate The Mid-Autumn Festival, Zhong Qiu Jie. You will make your own lantern, using Australian native plants as inspiration.

In her picture book The Most Beautiful Lantern, Sally Heinrich traces Mei-Ling’s search for the most beautiful lantern to carry in the lantern parade at her school. Along the way, Mei-Ling learns about some of the legends and traditions behind the festival and the way it is celebrated today.

Located at Institute Room, Institute Building, Adelaide, please register here (the number of children) to attend this workshop on Friday, 6 October 2023, starting at 10.30 am and 12.30 pm. The workshop is suitable for 7 to 12 years of age. All children must be accompanied by an adult.


Nature Crafts Drop in with Kate Hubmayer


Get inspired by the beauty of nature and their own imaginations, children will use flowers, leaves, seedpods and seeds to create their own unique works of art. Presented by Kate Hubmayer author of Nature Crafts for Aussie Kids. No bookings are required. This event is suitable for school-aged children from 5 to 12 years old. There are 2 sessions available:

Nature Drawing Workshop with Kathleen Knight


Practice or learn new techniques with artist Kathleen Knight on Wednesday, 11 October 2023, starting from 2 pm to 3 pm, at Findon Library, coner of Findon Road and Grange Road, Findon, and take inspiration from nature and patterns. Booking here . The event is suitable for children aged 7 to 12 years old.


Clay Nature Ornaments


Located at Henley Beach Library, 378 Seaview Road, Henley Beach, on 5 October 2023, starting from 10 am to 11.30 am, make your own clay ornament inspired by nature and using natural materials. This event is suitable for children aged 3 to 10 years old. No bookings are required.
