Kids love learning about art and getting involved with it, in it's myriad forms. This July the Art Gallery of New South Wales is hosting a number of activities for kids, with an art focus. The events are held under the gallery's Gallery Kids program which has been running for a few years.


Here is a selection of free performances and workshops on offer:

**Decorative Dress-ups
**
From 11am to 4pm, kids can attend this 5 hour drop-in sessions and make masks and headresses. Weather from the cultural wear of Papua New Guinea or the costumes of Japanese theatre, kids will have colourful inspiration for their creations in these free sessions. All materials and instructions are provided.

Date: 11am - 4pm, Friday 4th July

**Interactive Art
**
This is a 30 minute performance by Daniel Cordeaux and Monique Dykstra of Open Stage Productions that helps introduce young kids to art.

Date: 1.30pm, Monday 30th June - Friday 4th July

**Didgeridoo Dance
**
As part of NAIDOC week celebrations, this 30 minute song, story, music and dance session with Aboriginal performers is suitable for all age groups.

Date: 1.30pm, Tuesday 8th July - Friday 11th July

**Stencil Art
**
Another free drop-in session for kids will involve designing stencils. All materials and instructions are provided.

Date: 11am - 4pm, Monday 7th July - Friday 11th July

**The Art of Drawing
**
David Legge freelance illustrator, has created many of the pictures we associate with our favourite children's books, including Bamboozled, Nancy Drew and others. In this 30 minute session, for one day only, David will share some of his famous drawing techniques.

Date: 2.30pm Sunday 13th July

**Drop-in and Make
**
This drop-in session is all about making sculptures. It runs for 5 hours and all materials and instructions are provided.

Date: 11am - 4pm, Sunday 20th July.

Floating on a Sea of Stories

Performed by Bronwyn Vaughan, this 30 minute performance will be a mix of stories, colourful costumes and music.This session will also be Auslan-interpreted for deaf and hearing-impaired visitors.

Date: 2.30pm Sunday 27th July.
