Beat away the back to work blues

Drumming is good for your health. Rhythmic drumming can aid relaxation, reduce stress and even lower your blood pressure. It can also foster a sense of playfulness and reduce anger and frustration. There is nothing quite like beating it out.

Drumming is probably just the thing you need after an unpleasant morning at work with the boss hanging over your shoulder and your workmates driving you up the wall.

In that case or even simply for the sheer fun of it you might want to head down to Fed Square in your lunch break where they are offering a series of African Drumming workshops led by Asanti Dance Theatre.

Asanti Dance Theatre is a vibrant, fun and internationally recognised African drum and dance performance company.

This highly energetic ensemble will soon have you beating out a rhythm and beating away the back to work blues. Those holidays seem long gone.

The sessions are on at St Paul's Court steps every Wednesday until February 25th.

You can join in for free but a gold coin donation would be appreciated.

No bookings required and all ages are welcome. The area is accessible to wheelchairs. The clip below will give you some idea of the delightful time you are likely to have.
