A food and wine event not to miss
If you appreciate good food and wine, then you haven't lived until you've experienced one of Fraser's Tales from the Vine events.

Each long table lunch gives you the opportunity to speak directly with a guest winemaker. Included in the event is a very generous selection of wine 'tastings', complete with the story behind each wine.

On the day of my visit there was Justin Horgan from Leeuwin Estate, who had the table's undivided attention with fascinating stories of his family's foundation in the Margaret River region, their approach to wine-making, as well as anecdotes from their time hosting the iconic Leeuwin concert series. His passion was contagious.

This was interspersed with a three course meal that will leave an indelible mark on your palate. At each course, head chef Rhys Jones takes the time to explain the context of his dishes, with a focus on seasonal and clean produce. The dedication to his craft is evident, and the food so good it's almost beyond explanation.

Food is presented to the table in shared platters, so you can customise your plate to your liking. Make no mistake though, this is a very substantial meal. The slow-cooked wagyu main course was a standout, with the whole table enraptured.

The event I attended attracted a mix of couples and friends. To me the beauty of the event was in the concept of a long table lunch with 'strangers'. Over a common bond of good food and wine, and perhaps an unexpected connection, you will quickly bond with your fellow diners. Everyone has an interesting story to tell and the intrigue of meeting new people adds a whole new dimension to the afternoon.

Combine all of this with Fraser's iconic location in King's Park, overlooking the magnificent Perth skyline, and the stage is set for an unforgettable afternoon. You might never want to leave.

Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or want to learn more, the Fraser's Tales from the Vine events are highly recommended. At $110 per head this is exceptional value for this standard of food and wine, not to mention the experience itself.
